Why are the hours open-ended?
The honest answer is that we don’t know yet. We don’t know how many guests will want all of the services we’re offering, so the hours for most roles are open-ended and will grow with demand. The exceptions are the internships and the Hurly Burly Crew, which has up to four part-time positions for the summer season only.
Own the guest journey from pre-arrival through departure: preferences, room setup, itineraries, surprises, special requests and follow-up.
Think of this as the person watching the entire guest journey. The role is not simply solving problems; it is anticipating them, personalizing the stay and creating the little moments guests remember afterward.
What you’ll do
- Help manage arrival, orientation, in-stay communication and departure.
- Learn guest preferences and make sure useful details reach the rest of the team.
- Anticipate common needs so guests do not repeatedly have to ask for things.
- Coordinate surprises, celebrations, traditions and thoughtful touches for different groups.
- Act as a management trainee across the operation, learning how the property works as one connected guest experience.
Best fit
Hospitality student who is warm, obsessively organized and wants to run a property someday.
Own the Bag Room, golf itineraries, RTJ planning, club logistics, The 109th Hole, TrackMan competitions, leaderboards and side-bet traditions.
Be the human connection between WDR and the golf trip. The Caddie Master helps guests organize the golf portion of their stay while making The 109th Hole and the wider WDR golf culture part of the experience.
What you’ll do
- Help guests understand nearby golf options and the flow of their golf days.
- Coordinate golf-trip logistics and help groups think through tee times, departures, returns and post-round plans.
- Welcome guests into The 109th Hole and help them use the TrackMan experience confidently.
- Support WDR golf competitions, closest-to-pin contests and the inevitable settling of bets.
- Help create the small rituals and traditions that make repeat golf groups feel as though WDR is their clubhouse.
Best fit
Golf-obsessed Hospitality, Business, Sports or Event student who understands golf buddies.
Turn pickleball, soccer, basketball, chipping and WDR competitions into memorable guest experiences.
Own the everyday sports-and-recreation experience across the Ranch. This person helps make sure the toys, courts, fields and activity areas are ready to use, and that guests actually know how to enjoy them.
What you’ll do
- Set up, check and reset sports and recreation equipment before and after guest use.
- Help guests get started with pickleball, soccer, basketball and other WDR activities.
- Keep equipment organized, presentable and guest-ready; spot missing, damaged or poorly placed items before a guest has to ask.
- Coordinate with the Competition & Activities Crew when casual play turns into a tournament, challenge or family grudge match.
- Bring energy without becoming an overbearing activities director. Guests should feel looked after, not managed.
Best fit
Energetic Recreation, Event or Sports student who loves organizing people and competition.
Build golf weekends, birthdays, reunions, family trips, corporate retreats and custom group experiences from arrival to finale.
Help turn a group booking into a weekend that feels deliberately put together. This role works across arrivals, celebrations, group activities and special moments so that WDR feels more like a private resort than a house rental.
What you’ll do
- Help prepare the property for incoming groups and understand the purpose of each stay.
- Coordinate group schedules, special requests, celebrations and WDR traditions.
- Support family reunions, birthdays, golf trips, corporate groups and other private events.
- Work with culinary, sports, film and guest-experience teammates so events feel coordinated rather than fragmented.
- Notice where a group needs help and step in before anyone has to go looking for staff.
- Design, stage and run the WDR Pirate Treasure Hunt for children: the mysterious property map, the clue sequence, the buried treasure chest (Bahamian money, Disney coins and assorted pirate treasure) and a final discovery that feels magical rather than like an organized hotel activity.
Best fit
Event Management or Hospitality student who loves planning, logistics and entertaining.
Help create WDR food traditions: breakfast fry-ups, 12-seat grill experiences, chef dinners, catering partnerships and game-day food.
Help make food part of the entertainment. WDR is not trying to provide anonymous catering; the idea is generous, social food experiences, including the huge breakfast fry-up and the 12-seat Benihana-style grill.
What you’ll do
- Help develop, prep and execute WDR breakfast and group-meal experiences.
- Support chef-led dinners and interactive grill nights.
- Keep food presentation generous, fun and appropriate to a private group retreat.
- Coordinate food timing with golf departures, Game Day schedules, competitions and other activities.
- Help establish repeatable menus, prep systems and guest-facing culinary rituals.
Best fit
Culinary Science, Hospitality or F&B student who loves both cooking and the experience around it.
Shoot and edit Reels, TikTok and property content, and help produce WDR comedy campaigns for golf, pickleball and guest experiences.
Run two connected creative operations: WDR’s own advertising and content studio, and the guest-facing WDR Family Film experience. This is a real production role inside a hospitality business.
What you’ll do
- Meet families and groups shortly after arrival for a short, fun production meeting about the filming possibilities during their stay.
- Develop a WDR Shoot List for moments such as Penalty Kick ShootOuts, pickleball grudge matches, HORSE, TrackMan competitions, chef nights and Game Day.
- Film selected events and coordinate additional Auburn student camera operators as needed.
- Edit polished WDR Family Films with titles, scoreboards, slow motion, permitted drone establishing shots, mock-serious commentary, interviews, results, bloopers and end credits.
- Create WDR advertising, Reels, social content and the deliberately ridiculous comedy campaign.
- Keep guest-film purchases separate from public marketing permission; promotional use needs separate explicit consent, including guardian permission for minors.
Best fit
Creative Media, Film, Marketing, Communications or Journalism student who gets WDR humor.
Help fill the calendar through pricing, packages, campaigns, geo-targeting, Snow Belt marketing, email and conversion tracking.
Help put the right groups into the Ranch at the right times, and learn how a distinctive hospitality property turns attention into occupancy and revenue.
What you’ll do
- Support seasonal marketing plans, audience campaigns and booking offers.
- Help track inquiries, booking sources, occupancy patterns and campaign performance.
- Work on golf-trip, family, pickleball, Auburn, corporate and special-event marketing.
- Help identify soft dates and develop sensible reasons for guests to book them.
- Coordinate with the content team so advertising is connected to actual revenue opportunities rather than simply generating views.
Best fit
Hospitality, Marketing, Business or Analytics student who is commercially curious and numbers-comfortable.
Build relationships with golf courses, chefs, restaurants, transportation, tourism and local partners that improve the guest experience.
Build the network around WDR. The property should feel connected to Auburn-Opelika rather than isolated from it, and this role helps discover the people, places and partnerships worth introducing to guests.
What you’ll do
- Research and develop relationships with local attractions, restaurants, golf, services and experience providers.
- Help create useful recommendations for different types of WDR groups.
- Explore partnerships that improve the guest experience or create mutual marketing opportunities.
- Keep local information current and practical rather than producing a generic visitor guide.
- Look for the local people and experiences guests would never discover from a national booking site.
Best fit
Outgoing Hospitality, Marketing, PR or Business student who enjoys developing partnerships.
Turn Auburn home-game weekends into complete WDR experiences with itineraries, transportation, food, tailgate ideas and local traditions.
Own the WDR side of an Auburn Game Day weekend. The goal is to make the entire day, before, during and after the game, feel easier, more organized and more memorable for the group.
What you’ll do
- Help groups plan Game Day timing, transportation and departure routines, and return-to-WDR plans.
- Coordinate food, supplies and group logistics around the football schedule.
- Develop repeatable WDR Game Day traditions and guest communications.
- Work with the rest of the team so guests can move from Game Day excitement back into a fully prepared Ranch experience.
- Learn from each event weekend and improve the operating plan for the next one.
Best fit
Outgoing Auburn student with exceptional campus, game-day and local-area knowledge.
Work directly across guest experience, operations, marketing, partnerships, pricing, research and whatever needs building next.
Work directly across the business as WDR moves from concept to operating property. This is deliberately the least narrow role: the Founder’s Intern goes where the problem, opportunity or experiment is.
What you’ll do
- Work with the founder on guest experience, operations, marketing, partnerships, pricing ideas and new concepts.
- Research and test ideas, then help turn the useful ones into real operating practices.
- Move between departments instead of staying inside one job description.
- Help document what works so the first season becomes the operating playbook for the future.
- Take ownership of projects that may begin with little more than: “Could we do this?”
Best fit
Exceptionally ambitious, resourceful student who wants responsibility more than a narrow job description.
Waggle Dance Ranch has toys. Somebody has to be trusted with them.
The Toy Wrangler looks after all of WDR’s sports and adventure gear, so that whatever a group decides to play next, the right equipment is already out, in good shape and ready to go, and it all finds its way back afterwards.
What you’ll do
- Set out and check the gear before guests arrive: pickleball paddles and balls, soccer balls and goals, basketballs, cornhole boards and bags, and putting and chipping gear.
- Keep the Bag Room and equipment areas organized, stocked and presentable.
- Help guests get started on any WDR activity, from a first pickleball game to setting up a group competition.
- Spot worn or broken equipment, report it and keep track of what needs replacing.
- Make sure everything comes back at the end of the day, including the ball that went into the wildflowers.
Best fit
An energetic, organized Auburn student who likes sports and being outdoors, is good with children and adults, and understands that making something fun starts with having the right gear ready and properly looked after.
Summer only, unless it snows. Then the Hurly Burly turns into the best sledding hill in Auburn.
WDR’s 700-foot slip and slide, The Hurly Burly, is an experience we want guests to remember. Up to four energetic Auburn students will run it through the summer season, each owning one part of the ride. These are part-time roles: WDR isn’t full 24/7, so shifts follow the guest calendar.
The four Hurly Burly positions
- 1
Course Setup Coordinator
Rolls out, anchors and checks all 700 feet before the first rider, keeps the run safe and clear all session, then shuts it down, drains it and resets it at the end of the day.
- 2
Soap Master
Keeps the Hurly Burly slick from top to bottom, managing the water and slide soap so every run is fast, fun and consistent, and nobody grinds to a halt halfway down.
- 3
Inner Tube / Raft Wrangler
Runs the start line: matches riders to the right tube or raft, sends them off in a safe, orderly rotation, and makes sure every tube and raft comes back to the top.
- 4
Transport Captain
Gets the kids (and the grown-ups who swear this is their last run) back up to the top, keeping the loop moving so the queue never stalls.
What you’ll do
- Organize participants and help keep the experience orderly and fun.
- Assist children and families.
- Capture the memories: shoot great photos and short videos so families leave WDR with memorable footage.
- Cover each other’s positions so the Hurly Burly runs smoothly whoever is on shift.
Best fit
Up to four outgoing, energetic Auburn students who are excellent with children, comfortable supervising groups, happy working outdoors and around water, and capable of shooting good-quality photos and video. Lifeguard, camp counselor, recreation, hospitality, photography or videography experience would all be particularly useful.
Help operate The 109th Hole, WDR’s private TrackMan simulator room, as an experience, not merely a piece of technology.
There is one TrackMan, and the room should feel like the group’s own clubhouse.
What you’ll do
- Orient guests to the TrackMan and help them get games or competitions underway.
- Set up closest-to-pin, long-drive and other group formats.
- Keep the room, clubs and related equipment ready for use.
- Help guests move confidently between casual play, serious practice and ridiculous family and golf-buddy competition.
- Support the Caddie Master and the content team when 109th Hole competitions become part of a larger WDR event or Family Film.
Best fit
Golfers, hospitality students or tech-comfortable people who can explain something clearly without making the guest feel as though they are attending a software demonstration.
Turn WDR’s activities into proper events whenever a group wants to compete.
The crew provides enough structure to make the contest feel important while keeping the entire thing fun.
What you’ll do
- Referee and organize WDR Penalty Kick Shoot Outs.
- Run pickleball competitions, rematches and group tournaments.
- Organize and referee games of HORSE on the basketball half-court.
- Help stage other WDR challenges and Waggle Dance Cup events, explain rules and keep score.
- Coordinate with the content team so the best competitions can be filmed with commentary, scoreboards, slow motion and results.
- Keep guests laughing and involved while maintaining sensible safety and fair play.
Best fit
Sports, recreation, event-management or hospitality students who are confident with groups, comfortable enforcing a rule and capable of treating a family grudge match with exactly the right amount of mock seriousness.
Work hard. Slide harder.
